Inherit the Earth: Mike Flanagan, known for horror movies Ouija: Origin of Evil (above) and Hush, will write a new script for Inherit the Earth and is also attached to direct. Reportedly, Flanagan will reconceive the entire project, which revolves around "a servant protector robot who is tasked to protect a young girl." Michael Bay is serving as one of the producers. A.D. After Death: Created by the highly respected Scott Snyder (Batman) and Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth), the three-issue Image Comics series A.D. After Death considers what happens after a genetic cure for death transforms life as we know it. Sony has now acquired screen rights and Josh Bratman (Fright Night) will produce a planned big-screen version. [THR]
Little Shop of Horrors: Greg Berlanti, who has been busy lately producing adaptations of DC Comics for television (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl), will direct a new big-screen version of Little Shop of Horrors. Matthew Robinson will script the project, which has its roots in Roger Corman's 1960 horror-comedy, which was later adapted into an off-Broadway musical and a 1986 movie starring Rick Moranis (above). A United Kingdom Trailer: David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike star as an African prince and a British commoner, respectively, in the first trailer for A United Kingdom. Based on a true story, the movie is set in the late 1940s and explores the many challenges the couple faced after they fell in love and decided to marry. It will open in theaters on February 17.
