Independence Day 2: Director Roland Emmerich announced that Maika Monroe has joined the cast of Independence Day 2. Monroe starred recently in the breakout indie horror title It Follows; it's not yet clear what role she will be playing in the blockbuster sequel opposite the likes of Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum. Unfriended

Unfriended: Horror thriller Unfriended cost $1 million and has grossed more than $25 million in box office returns in the U.S., and thus has earned a sequel. The movie unfolds entirely on a young woman's personal computer, as the mysterious revenge story is told through the use of a variety of computer programs. Death Note: Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest) has been tapped to direct Death Note, based on a Japanese horror comic book. The story revolves around a young man who discovers a mysterious notebook that gives him the power to kill simply by writing the victim's name; he then decides to kill all those he considers evil. A Japanese adaptation was so successful that it spawned a sequel; Shane Black was previously attached to direct. [Heat Vision]

 

Frog Kingdom

Frog Kingdom Trailer: The delightful first trailer for Frog Kingdom follows a princess (voiced by Bella Thorne) who runs away to avoid an arranged marriage. Instead, she goes into training so she can win the Froglympics atheletic competition; Rob Schneider voices her trusty sidekick. The movie is heading for release on home video on June 30.
