Annabelle 2: Miranda Otto (TV's Homeland, above left) and Stephanie Sigman (SPECTRE, above right) will star in Annabelle 2. The sequel to the spin-off from The Conjuring follows a doll maker and his wife (Otto) who invite a nun (Sigman) and several young girls to stay with them. Unfortunately, the doll maker's prized creation, Annabelle, is possessed and really doesn't like houseguests. Gary Dauberman wrote the script and David Sandberg is directing; the movie is set for release on May 19, 2017. [THR/Variety]

Broom-Hilda

Broom-Hilda: First published in 1970, the newspaper comic strip Broom-Hilda was created by Russell Myers and found widespread success. It revolves around its titular character, an old witch who loves men, beer and cigars. Now rights to the strip have been acquired by producers Gilbert Adler and Jason A. Rosenberg, who hope to launch a movie franchise based on the idea that Broom-Hilda "has a problem with weight." [Deadline]
