G.I. Joe: Retaliation OK haters, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know this isn't going to be Citizen Kane. But if you haven't gotten enough explodey action at theaters this summer, this new release will fit the bill at home.
Basically the story, such as it is, goes like this: the bad dudes of COBRA have infiltrated the Oval Office, initiating an attack that leaves the Joes all but decimated other than brawny Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and two others, “Lady” Jaye (Adrianne Palicki) and Flint (DJ Cotrona). The three enlist the help of original Joe Bruce Willis, whom they track down in the 'burbs. Meanwhile, Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-hun) and Firefly (Ray Stevenson) are busy breaking Cobra Commander out of a high-tech prison. All this leads up to an attempt at world domination, with ridiculous set pieces along the way (one standout is a thrilling sequence involving ziplining ninjas high atop the Himalayas). It's silly, big, dumb fun and way better than its predecessor. Extras (Blu-ray only): Director John Chu commentary, deleted scenes, eight featurettes about the stunts, costumes, the aforementioned ninja sequence, villains and more.
Watch This! Find out why Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes are bitter enemies in this exclusive featurette from the Blu-ray.
