Ghostbusters

The upcoming new version of Ghostbusters initially created a stir because of its casting, with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones stepping into the shoes originally filled by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. With production completed, however, it's time to start speculating about the inevitable plot changes.

So why is a fire truck turned on its side in the newest official photo (above)? Could it be the ghostbusters themselves are responsible? Or maybe a giant ghost, similar to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man that appeared in the 1984 original?

Probably not. According to Entertainment Weekly, the new titular Ghostbusters will be facing "dead criminals from all eras of New York’s underbelly past [who] have returned to roost among the living." That includes "pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters." We'll have to wait until the movie hits theaters on July 15 to see who or what, exactly, is responsible for damaging an innocent fire truck.

The Jungle Book

While Ghostbusters should be pure fun, a new photo from Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book (above, via Empire) suggests that a new version of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale will not be all fun and games.

Young and heroic Mowgli (Neel Sethi) is shown sobbing as he holds onto a wolf, his adoptive mother Raksha (voiced by Lupita Nyong'o). His adoptive father, not shown, is Akela (voiced by Giancarlo Esposito). It will be the second motion-capture performance in a row for Nyong'o, who just made a notable impression in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Maz Kanata. Look for The Jungle Book in theaters on April 15.

Sully

What are Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood cooking up? They're pictured above in the first official photo from the set of Sully, which shows that Hanks looks quite distinguished with his hair dyed white. Hanks is playing real-life Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, who piloted US Airways Flight 1549 to a safe landing in New York's Hudson River after striking a flock of Canadian geese in January 2009.

Some have wondered how the movie will be able to deliver any surprises, since the true-life events are so recent and well-known. "People saw the landing, but what followed is where the conflict is," Eastwood recently told EW. "There was an investigation into his decision and it was painting a picture that he had done the wrong thing, that he could have made it back to La Guardia or Teterboro. What happened behind closed doors is what most people don’t know.” Laura Linney and Aaron Eckhart also star; the movie is heading for release on September 9.

The Light Between Oceans

Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, Macbeth) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl, Ex Machina) are as hot as can possibly be, thanks to their recent roles, but they look decidedly different in the upcoming The Light Between Oceans (above, via Thompson on Hollywood).

Directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines), who adapted a novel by M.L. Stedman, the independent movie follows a lighthouse keeper and his wife in western Australia who raise a baby they find in a drifting rowboat. It's set in western Australia during World War I and is aiming for release next year.
