Napoleon Dynamite’ was always one of those films where you totally expected a sequel to come from it. But because the filmmakers – including Napoleon himself, Jon Heder – sort of blew up after the film became a fan favorite, they busied themselves with other exciting projects and ignored the temptations to return to the character that helped make them superstars way back in 2004.

Times have changed, though, and with both Heder and director Jared Hess struggling to produce more quality content, they’ve finally decided to revisit their most iconic character … in animated form. Fox has officially ordered six episodes of the new ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ animated TV show, which will feature all the original characters and actors who brought the film to life six years ago. Jared Hess and his brother Jerusha Hess (who wrote the film version) will be writers and executive producers, while ‘Simpsons’ veteran Mike Scully will also be involved.
