The Die Hard franchise continues to live on, with a new installment -- currently titled Die Hard: Year One -- in development, with Bruce Willis reportedly reprising the role of Detective John McClane once again. The idea with this one it seems is that the film will tell a story that both connects an older McClane to his younger self, as a sort of McClane origin story. Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) is attached to direct, but there's no confirmed release date as of now.

The most recent Die Hard films have introduced older versions of McClane's kids, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Jack (Jai Courtney), so when we sat down recently to chat with Winstead about her newest film, 10 Cloverfield Lane, we asked her straight up -- how come Lucy McClane doesn't have her own Die Hard movie yet?

"I'm ready! I'm still ready!" Winstead told us. "I'm barefoot for a lot of [10 Cloverfield Lane] and so McClane was brought up a lot. In the close-ups I'd wear slippers just for comfort, but in the wide shots I had to go barefoot. So Dan [Trachtenberg] would say, 'You gotta go full McClane. Full McClane!'

Winstead didn't reveal whether Lucy McClane has a role in the new Die Hard movie or not, but says she's game to get her own Die Hard film.

"Hey, I've always wanted to take over the McClane name. I'm more than ready!"

As for 10 Cloverfield Lane, Winstead says not to expect a Cloverfield sequel. "I do know that it's not a sequel. It's not a sequel, it's not a prequel," she said. When asked whether her character is related to anyone in the first Cloverfield movie, she says no. "Not in that sense."

But she does speak to a mysterious character named Megan, who's been a part of the 10 Cloverfield Lane ARG (or Alternate Reality Game -- see this Reddit page] for those following along. Megan is apparently the daughter of Howard (John Goodman), and her connection to the film and its characters is pivotal, but unknown. Winstead elaborates:

"Her presence is certainly there, and it's a pivotal part of the film. Howard explains her one way and there are things about her that we find out that maybe don't match up with what Howard says. So all of these things help piece together who these people in the bunker are, and if they are who they say they are. And Megan is a big part of that story."

10 Cloverfield Lane hits theaters on March 11.
