October belongs to Maleficent, also known as the Season of the Witch, so what could be better than an exciting new action-adventure starring the iconic Disney villain in her most menacing role, the Mistress of Evil. This is a perfect movie to kick off the Halloween season – a large-scale tale that delves further into a powerful character portrayed magnificently by Angelina Jolie.
Previously, Maleficent was only known for her dark side, as showcased in the classic animated tale Sleeping Beauty. In Maleficent, however, Jolie overturned all our expectations about the titular character, as we learned of her origins as a mighty fairy living in the magical realm known as the Moors. She was wronged by the ambitious humans in a nearby kingdom, yet still developed a close relationship with Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), eventually uniting the two kingdoms.
What further excitement can we anticipate in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil? In a new video, we see Princess Aurora happily accept a proposal of marriage from Prince Phillip (Harris Dickson). Dark clouds immediately begin forming, however, when the duplicitous Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) declares Maleficent to be a threat. For her part, Maleficent is only concerned about the innocent Aurora being preyed upon by others. A sharp division between humans and the magically-powered Dark Fae emerges, and we can tell that big troubles and a major conflict are brewing.
