Justice League

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Zack Snyder will direct a big-screen version of DC's Justice League, according to The Wall Street Journal. Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) are expected to return. No release date has been set, though it's unlikely to hit theaters before 2018.

This confirms rumors that have intensified since Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the Man of Steel sequel last summer, and somehow taken to a higher level with the selection of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. But which other superpowered characters will be in Justice League? For example, we just heard that stage actor Ray Fisher had been cast as Cyborg in Batman vs. Superman, with the thought that he would have a "much more significant" role in movies set in the Justice League universe.

But, while Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Production Greg Silverman says Justice League will be "a further expansion of the universe," he declined to comment on who else would be joining the fun. The script is still in development. With Batman vs. Superman, the unofficially titled follow-up to Snyder's Man of Steel, due in theaters on May 6, 2016, it makes sense that Snyder is focusing his efforts on the current project, allowing more time to flesh out the story and characters needed for Justice League.

Studio executives are also said to be "warm" to the idea of a Wonder Woman spin-off. "The world is ready for her," Sue Kroll told The Wall Street Journal. Will the world be ready for Justice League in 2018? Will you?
