At one point before Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Josh Brolin was director Zack Snyder's choice to play the Caped Crusader. It never happened for various reasons, but now Brolin is set to play--or should we say voice--the villain Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. From DC's greatest hero to Marvel's most powerful villain.
News first broke over Latino Review and then Variety confirmed it. Brolin will voice the villain in the upcoming Guardians, due out August 1, and potentially play Thanos in subsequent movies, including The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3. Last time we saw Thanos was at the end of The Avengers, when he was all hanging out on his throne, looking mean.

How much of Thanos we'll see in Guardians remains a mystery. We know he's in the film, but to what extent is unknown. Thanos, of course, is considered to be one of the baddest Marvel villains of them all, and it certainly seems like this first Avengers trilogy is building towards an eventual confrontation between the Avengers and Thanos.
It'll be a nice chance for Brolin to really stretch his range. Thanos is arguably the greatest villain in the Marvel library, so it'll take an all-powerful performance to bring him to life. Can Brolin deliver one? What do you think?
