I’m not sure if kids even have sleepovers anymore, and if they do whether they still play games like “Truth or Dare” and “7 Minutes in Heaven” – the latter of which involves two unsuspecting teens (or pre-teens) randomly picked to go into a darkened closet together for seven minutes and … do things? The most memorable on-screen moment involving “7 Minutes of Heaven” can probably be found in the film Teen Wolf, when Michael J. Fox gets all awkward wolfy on his friend Boof, clawing her back and slicing up the poor girl’s shirt.

J.J. Abrams

Now, though, according to Heat Vision, J.J. Abrams and his cronies (including Jack Bender, who directed the final episode of Lost) have come up with a new, interesting, freaky spin on an old classic house party game. Essentially they want to make a thriller about two kids who go into the closet together for seven minutes, and when they come out all of their friends are dead. Not much is known beyond that, but I bet it involves a series of scenes that will turn off kids from ever playing that game again. Suddenly every parent in the country loves J.J. Abrams!

Abrams probably won’t direct the film (we already know the guy likes to develop new ideas from within his own inner circle before handing them off to friends to run with), but knowing he’s involved immediately takes this from generic thriller to something we should all be looking forward to.

What do you think? Are enough kids still familiar with the game “7 Minutes in Heaven,” or will they go see the film regardless because Abrams is involved? Sound off below …
