But was it worth the wait? That's what you'll have to ask yourself after checking out the brand spanking new Avatar trailer over on Apple. The trailer – which will be accompanied by a special extended 16-minute preview in 3D at selected IMAX theaters across the globe tomorrow – debuted this morning to some mixed reactions.
The hotly-anticipated buzzed-about flick from visionary director James Cameron (Titanic, Terminator 2: Judgment Day) had been called a game-changer right from the get-go, with folks touting it as a film that will change the way we watch movies. However, while that very well may be the case, it's hard to feel that just from watching this trailer, which some are already comparing to the Star Wars prequel films in that, well, they both stink. Granted, Cameron has always said that his film is meant to be watched on a big screen in 3D, and while nothing really blows me away here, it's quite easy to see how in a different environment this film could be an absolute blast. What's it about, you ask? Sam Worthington plays a paraplegic war veteran who travels to the distant planet of Pandora where he finds that humans are waging war against the planet's indigenous Na'vi race. There's a whole lot more to it, including obvious environmental themes, but it might be best for you to just watch this sucker without knowing too much more.
