Warner Bros. has to be pretty pleased with Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters taking the top slot at the weekend box office. Not that H&G is a Warner movie. (It isn’t.) But it helps prove that modern audiences have a taste for fairy-tale adventure, and the studio has an epic fairy-tale film heading to theaters in the coming weeks.

Jack the Giant Slayer will take audience members up the legendary beanstalk, but plans to put a fresh spin on the classic story. This time, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) unwittingly opens a portal between our world and the land of the giants, creating a possible war between the angry, towering creatures and our mismatched human race.

Bryan Singer helms Giant Slayer, entertaining the masses with 3D thrills before diving fully into X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film co-stars Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy and Ewan McGregor. And it continues a busy streak for Hoult, who’ll next be seen in the zombie comedy Warm Bodies

Warner released a new TV spot for Jack the Giant Slayer, which finally opens in theaters on March 1 in 2D, 3D and 3D IMAX … take your pick. Here’s the clip, which helps sell the action. Would you trade an IMAX ticket for a bag of magic beans?
