Right now you may not be all too familiar with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, since it's based on a series of graphic novels that are set – and subsequently very specific – to Toronto, Canada. That said, one look at the newly released trailer, and something tells me this will immediately become one of your most anticipated movies of the year.

'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World'

Directed by the highly talented Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), Scott Pilgrim vs. The World stars Michael Cera as a dude who meets the girl of his dreams, and then learns that in order to be with her he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. The story is a little nuts to begin with, but once you see just how visually amazing this film is, the video game addict inside of you will most definitely scream with utter joy.

That's because, if anything, this film looks like it will become the next great geek cult flick – complete with its sped-up fight scenes, in-game references and old school Batman-style fightin' words. Of course I suggest picking up the books (the last of which is set to hit stands in June), but I'm sure you'll still find plenty of love if you go in blind.

Check out the trailer over on Apple (or watch it below) and let us know what you think. A little too weird, or easily one of the films you're looking forward to most this summer? Scott Pilgrim vs. The World hits theaters on August 13th.
