A big hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival, a SWSX audience award winner and soon to be a favorite of movie fans worldwide, The Big Sick is one of the hottest alternatives to the summer's blockbusters.

Watch as Kumail Nanjiani and Ray Romano introduce the new trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy and read on for more about it:

When it comes out: June 23 (limited), July 14 (wide)

Who is in it: Kumail Nanjiani, Ray Romano, Holly Hunter, Zoe Kazan, Aidy Bryant, Adeel Akhtar, Anupam Kher

What it is about: Nanjiani plays himself in this autobiographical romantic comedy about how he and his now wife, Emily V. Gordon (Kazan), met and fell in love in spite of their racial and cultural differences and obstacles and then how he won over her parents (Romano and Hunter) when she falls ill and is hospitalized in a coma. The couple cowrote the movie, which is directed by Michael Showalter (Hello, My Name Is Doris).

Trailer review: It's funny that Nanjiani and Romano set up the trailer by rejecting dishonest marketing yet the trailer apparently sells a slightly different movie than it truly is. The Big Sick looks sappier in the trailer than we can expect. Even if it is sentimental, it also looks funny and seems to be a terrific showcase for Nanjiani as a leading man. Raves out of the festivals also claim Romano and Hunter are big scene stealers and we don't get that from the trailer, but that's a good thing. Hopefully they're not showing us all of the movie's best moments.
