With House wrapped up and no projects in his immediate future, Hugh Laurie could take some much deserved time off. Instead, he's in negotiations to play the villain in Jose Padilha's Robocop remake.

Laurie is currently negotiating for the role of the evil CEO of Omnicorp, the company that makes Robocop.

If Laurie signs on, he'll join a cast which includes Joel Kinnaman in the title role, Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates Robocop and Samuel L. Jackson  who will play a patriotic media mogul. Abbie Cornish is still in talks to play the widowed wife.

Anybody who has watched even one episode of House knows that casting Laurie in the villain role is almost a no-brainer. He can deliver biting snark with excellent timing.

Robocop won't hit theaters until August 9, 2013 and filming isn't scheduled to begin until September, so there is plenty of time to fill out the cast. Do you like Laurie in the villain role?
