Tonight at midnight (12:01 am Eastern Standard Time / 9:01 pm Pacific Standard Time), the concert sensation that is Hannah Montana (a.k.a. Miley Cyrus, teen superstar daughter to big daddy Billy Ray) becomes a movie sensation presented in "Disney Digital 3D" glory.
Tickets go on sale tonight, but the movie concert (filmed by 3D cameras from three live shows) opens February 1st, where it will play for a limited, one week-only run.
If Hannah's 54 sold-out concerts are any indication, it might be a good idea to reserve a seat for you and your kids now, even for Hannah on celluloid.
Time will tell if movie theaters and 3D really are the next best thing to being at the show [up next: a U2 digital 3D concert movie set for release in late January].
But for this 3D movie event, Titanic -- the biggest box office hit of all time -- may be the best rule of thumb. One should never underestimate the power of the 12 to 15 year old demographic, and their allowance money.
