Wanna know how tough actor Harrison Ford is? Tough enough to play a number of iconic action heroes on the big screen, like Indiana Jones and Han Solo, but in his real life this is a guy who's walked away from not one, but two separate air crashes.
The second happened Thursday afternoon in Santa Monica, California, as Ford was piloting a World War II-era plane that had engine trouble barely into the flight, forcing the Star Wars veteran to attempt an emergency landing on a nearby golf course -- an act that many hailed as heroic since Ford managed to keep the plane away from the surrounding neighborhoods.
The 72-year-old's injuries first sounded worse than they actually were, as initial reports listed him as "critical." Ford was treated for a broken ankle and pelvis, as well as several cuts and bruises to his head. He is said to currently be in fair to moderate condition, and his representatives say he is expected to make a full recovery. Previously Ford, who is an avid airplane and helicopter pilot, survived a 1999 accident inside a Bell chopper in Santa Clara, California.
"He risked life and limb by putting it down on the golf course instead of trying to go further to try to get back to the airport,” one witness said. Currently Ford is recovering from surgery and getting some much-needed rest. Sounds like the Force was with him yet again, and we're glad he's doing well.
