Admit it, you’ve been itching like a kid with a nasty case poison ivy to know more about the robots featured in what is perhaps this summer’s biggest (and most anticipated sequel), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Lucky for you, Yahoo and USA Today both debuted fun-tastic features today naming each new robot, while bringing us up to speed on those Transformers returning for another go-round. Highlights include …
On the Autobot (ie: good guys) side, we have the main dudes from last time returning, like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide and Ratchet. Joining them are Arcee, who comes in the form of a pink motorcycle that Megan Fox will ride. This particular Transformer was supposed to appear in the last film, but writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci admitted that introducing a female robot into the mix may have been a bit too much for audiences to grasp onto right off the bat. Other new Autobots include Jolt, Jetfire (described by Michael Bay as "old, craggy, forgetful … doesn’t work very well."), twin robots Skid and Mudflap and Sideswipe.
On the Decepticon (ie: bad guys) side, Starscream and Scorponok are returning (along with Megatron, although no one really wants to admit that yet). Then we have a whole bunch of new baddies, including the ginormous Devestator, which is made up of several different smaller Transformers/construction vehicles like Scavenger, Scrapper, Hightower, Longhaul, Ravage, Overload and Mixmaster. Confused yet? Are you writing all these names down? I didn’t think so.
Finally, we have the title character called The Fallen. Oh yes, Revenge of the Fallen is not just a sinister bad-guys-return-to-do-damage kinda title. The Fallen is an actual character, described as being an ancient robot who’s the key to life on Earth and the Transformers home planet of Cybertron. Freaky.
