Looks like someone has an inside track on the Fantastic Four reboot because it seems as though each day brings another new tidbit about the casting, the tone of the film or which directors 20th Century Fox is circling. The latest info comes from ComicBookMovie, who claim (via their sources) to know which actors and directors the studio is eying for the reboot.
So far we've heard that they were looking at Adrien Brody for Mr. Fantastic, Alice Eve for Invisible Woman, Kevin Pennington as Human Torch and an all-CG The Thing to be voiced by either Bruce Willis or Kiefer Sutherland, depending on the source. New to the mix is word that True Blood's Stephen Moyer is being looked at to play the villainous Dr. Doom, and several directors have been shortlisted for the potential gig.
Those directors include Joe Carnahan (The A-Team), David Yates (Harry Potter) and James McTeigue (V for Vendetta). Obviously all three of these guys know how to manage ensemble casts, while mixing multiple action sequences with a little intrigue, and so it really just depends on the kind of Fantastic Four film Fox wants to deliver. The previous trilogy did pretty well at the box office, though fans dubbed it too childish and not dark enough. Personally I kinda dug the fact that, for once, we had a comic book film aimed at kids instead of angsty teens and moody adults, but apparently Fox decided to scrap that whole thing – pretend it never happened – and start from scratch.
