The Men Who Were Almost Superman

Now that we know Henry Cavill is going to play The Man of Steel in a new Superman movie set to be directed by Zack Snyder and hit theaters during the winter of 2012, we can take a look at the actors who were also up for the role, but didn’t make the cut.

Matthew Goode in 'Watchmen'The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Matthew Bomer (soap actor) and Colin O’Donaghue (The Rite) were all under consideration and had met about the role. What do you think – would any of those guys have been a better fit for Supes?

The Search is On for Lois Lane

So we have our Clark Kent/Superman in Henry Cavill, but what about Lois Lane? No official word yet that Lois Lane is even a part of this new version (though we imagine there has to be a female role, and when it comes to Superman, that role should be Lois Lane), but What’s Playing is the first out of the gate with a list of rumored actresses who may be up for the Lois Lane role.

Their list includes Kristen StewartJessica BielMalin AkermanRachel McAdams, 'Glee' star Dianna Agron, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kristen Bell. I’d say it’s a decent list to start out with, though Stewart is all kinds of wrong for Lois Lane. She’s too angsty and likes to play characters who lack self confidence. Lois Lane is all about the strong, tough, female reporter, and so you’d need a girl who’s not afraid to get her hands dirty for this one. Any ideas? Do you like one of the girls mentioned, or do you have other ladies in mind?

The Dark Knight Rises to Begin Shooting in May

Wondering when we’ll start seeing leaked photos from the set of The Dark Knight Rises? Well keep your pants on, because it’ll be another couple of months till production on Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film gets underway. While attending the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Coming Soon caught up with the director who gave a definitive start time, saying, ““We've worked on it a long time - David Goyer and myself. We're about 12 weeks away from shooting. We start in May.”

So there you have it! 12 weeks away from production on what will surely be one of the biggest films of 2012. The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters on July 20th, 2012.
