This Thanksgiving week, feast on some of the juiciest fanboy news items that recently have filled our cinematic plates:

Fans eager for the next chapter of the Star Wars saga might be upset to hear that they are going to have to wait until Christmas 2015 to see how the adventure continues. But director J.J. Abrams told MTV that it is a “huge improvement” to the state of the franchise that the release date was moved back.

"I will say that it is an infinitely better situation now than when they were saying they wanted it in the summer. Before I even came onto the project, before I was brought on, they were talking about 2015 and they made this announcement very early on. Which I understand, and I understand why they'd want that, but it didn't necessarily have anything to do with the reality of where anyone was creatively. So I think that it's a hugely important thing that that comes first, and that a release date is great, but you have to release something great. So to me, the new release date is a huge improvement."

Star Wars will open in theaters on December 18, 2015. Hear the rest of Abrams’ interview right here:

Chris Cooper continues to tease his “introduction” as Norman Osborn in next summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, which Marc Webb will direct.

Comic book junkies know that Norman goes on to become the Green Goblin. But Osborn suggests that the villain might be held for future projects – and maybe as a member of the Sinister Six.

"[Amazing] Spider-Man 2 was an introduction to Norman," Cooper said in an interview with MTV. "And — you'll see — an extremely odd introduction, which apparently will lead to something more. … They sent me some material. But they said also that this Spider-Man is its own Spider-Man. We're just kind of starting from the beginning."

And expanding. Sony already has announced dates for Spider-Man 3 and 4. The future for the wall-crawling webslinger appears bright.

Oldboy star Elizabeth Olsen will play one of the new members of Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers sequel Age of Ultron. And while promoting Spike Lee’s latest film, Olsen opened up to Moviefone about the mental problems that will be plaguing Scarlet Witch, her powerful (and flawed) hero:

“I hung out with Mr. Whedon recently. I'm really excited about this movie. I'm so excited about Scarlet Witch. I have had so much fun reading all about her and I am like learning new words that I had to look up on Wikipedia. I'm really enjoying it.

"I just love Scarlet Witch. I love her. It's so funny because I'm often talking about all these psychologically damaged people, but when you talk about Scarlet Witch... She is a messed-up lady. She has got more [stuff] to deal with than anybody else I know. I'm excited to figure out what's appropriate to use for her, because there's so much material from all of these decades, and we're going to tell this one story. So to be able to choose what you're going to bring into it from all of this abundance, it's really fun."

While we’re on the topic of new Marvel characters, let’s touch on Frank Grillo, who plays Crossbones in next spring’s sequel and says this might be only the beginning for this… villain?

In an interview with Crave, Grillo talked about his future with the franchise, stating:

"It’s an origin film. You meet people who are going to be around for awhile, so they introduce the characters. It’s almost like it’s a series. It’s fun. I can’t say very much about it because Marvel’s very strict about what you’re allowed to say. The movie, we’ve seen bits of it, and it is spectacular."

When asked, specifically, if that means he thinks Marvel has plans for Crossbones in subsequent Captain America movies, Grillo hinted:

"They do actually. We’ll see what happens. We’ll see if the fans respond to Brock and how it goes."

Captain America returns to theaters on April 4, 2014.
