In the interplanetary YA adventure romance The Space Between Us, Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) stars as Gardner Elliot, a boy who was born on Mars to an astronaut who died in childbirth without revealing who his father was. As the first human child to inhabit the red planet he has a lonely upbringing, and at 16 he embarks on a search to find his father on Earth -- while falling for a streetwise girl he meets in Colorado. There's a bit of a wrinkle, though; not having experienced Earth's gravity, Gardner's body is unable to withstand our environment for very long.
