When writer-director Robert Eggers set out to make The Witch, it was imperative that the world they created was as accurate and grounded to the period as possible. This way, the witch would be as believable to today's audience as it would have been to the people of the era in which the story takes place.

In this Fandango Movieclips exclusive featurette, Robert Eggers and cast members Anya Taylor-Joy and Kate Dickie discuss the creation of the 17th-century New England setting and how it becomes a character in the film.

The Witch enchants theaters February 19.
