It was one of the biggest (and most confusing) movies of the year, and while it’s hard to envision a sequel right off the bat, that doesn’t mean Warner Bros. isn’t already planning one in their heads. According to a report over at the Australian site What’s Playing, Warner Bros. is beginning to talk about an Inception sequel, though evidently they’re not talking to Christopher Nolan … yet.

'Inception'

After dropping a few subtle hints, their “inside source” emailed them the following: “No, I mean in the sense that Warner Bros want another Inception - as in sequel. Doesn’t make a lick of sense creatively, but financially? Well… it made ”a lot” of money for them. Can’t imagine [Christopher] Nolan wanting to do a sequel, let alone direct one. Also don’t imagine Jeff would want to piss off Nolan by doing one around him. All interest is on the studio side at this stage.”

They’re exactly right in the fact that Nolan, in all likelihood, would not be interested in making a sequel, especially after working on three Batman movies for the studio. The only way we could see this happening is if Nolan came on as producer and handed the project off to someone else. If that happens, though, don’t expect Leonardo DiCaprio to stick around since he’s notoriously choosy about who directs the films he stars in.

But what about you, the moviegoer? Would you even be interested in an Inception sequel, or is that a film better left alone?
