One of the most anticipated movies of the fall is SPECTRE, the latest installment of the James Bond franchise and the second pairing of Daniel Craig as 007 and Sam Mendes as director. If it's anything like their last, 2012's Skyfall, then fans are going to want the two back again for the next one, which will have to be a big deal since it's officially the 25th in the series.

Well, those fans might be disappointed if the latest word from Craig rings true. Check out what he said about his future as Bond below.

Is Daniel Craig quitting the James Bond role?

“I really don’t know," he told Esquire in a new inteview. "Honestly. I’m not trying to be coy. At the moment I can’t even conceive it.”

Well, does he want to quit the franchise?

It sounds that way. In the same interview, when asked if he'd like to do another one, he said, "At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see."

But hasn't he said this before?

Well, there's always been some ambiguity from the actor regarding the role, and rumors circulated earlier this year that he was leaving after SPECTRE. Nothing has ever been so direct, though.

Doesn't he have a contract for more?

In 2012, it was reported that EON Productions had signed Craig on for two more installments after Skyfall. That would be SPECTRE and whatever comes next. Following the rumors of his departure earlier this year, a spokesperson from Sony said he has assured them he will fulfill his contract.

Maybe by "another one" he meant after the rumored second part of SPECTRE?

Esquire did ask Craig about the possibility that SPECTRE is the first of a two-part storyline, as has long been rumored, to which Craig replied, "I don't think so." That's not a denial, but that's also not indication that he had considered the two parts as one movie.

So whatever the next one is, he'll probably quit after that?

You could probably bet on it.

Then who will play James Bond?

We're not sure, but if it's not Idris Elba, half of the Internet will riot. If it is Idris Elba, half of the Internet will riot.
