One look at Oscar-winner Colin Firth's resume and the role of a super spy instantly becomes both intriguing and puzzling.

The Latino Review's El Mayimbe dropped word last night that Firth has signed on to Fox's adaptation of Mark Millar's comic book series The Secret Service. The six-issue series recently wrapped up its storyline.

The series follows a super spy working for MI6 who takes his slacker nephew Gary under his wing in hopes of changing his life and molding him into an MI6 agent.

A November 14, 2014 release date has already been secured for the film which has Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn in place to direct.

The script closely follows the comic, which, aside from the "Uncle Jack" and Gary storyline includes a subplot about terrorist who, with the exception of a few celebrities he admires, plans to wipe out the Earth's human population.

Mark Hamill is one of those celebrities who is kidnapped and appears to be set to cameo pending any scheduling conflicts with the new Star Wars movies. Here's a quick taste of the Gary-Jack storyline:

So who might play Gary? According to THR, Vaughn had hoped to reunite with Aaron Johnson but it appears like that isn't going to work out.

What do you think of Firth playing a super spy? Who do you think should be cast as Gary?
