We’ve got some huge casting news to share, including what Chris Pratt’s next comic-based project might be.
Pratt, who has watched his career explode in the wake of playing Star-Lord in James Gunn’s summer blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, is now attached as the lead in an adaptation of the graphic novel Cowboy Ninja Viking.
The project has been kicking around Hollywood for a few years, with Disney interested and eventually passing at one point before it wound up at Universal. Pratt will play Duncan, a man with multiple personalities who’s transformed into an assassin. His personalities provide the title – he switches between a cowboy, a ninja and a Viking and uses the skills of each to hunt down the man responsible for turning him into a killer when he escapes from a government program.
Plans were to have Duncan’s character change physical form as he takes on the personality of each of his alter egos (although he looks the same to the outside world), but that may change now with Pratt on board. [Collider]
The X-Men: Apocalypse casting list features some familiar names.
We know that Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse is looking to take the franchise in some new directions – and new directions usually mean new actors, so here are the names currently rumored to be on the short list to play younger versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops.
Sources reveal that Fox and Singer are interested in Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld and Elle Fanning for the Jean Grey role, adding that Fanning and Moretz have met with Singer in recent weeks to talk about the part.
Those same sources also point out that this is still very early in the process – no one’s made offers to any of the actresses. There have been no screen tests. Other young actresses are also still being considered.
While Singer looks to be targeting big-name actresses for the role of Grey, he appears willing to give an up-and-coming actor a break when it comes to Cyclops.
Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet are the three men in the running for the role made famous by James Marsden. You can see Chalamet’s recent work in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar playing Matthew McConaughey’s son.
What do you guys think? Can you see any of these actors playing these iconic characters? [The Wrap]
