My prediction didn't exactly go too well last week, as Despicable Me proved there's still box office life left in original animated films. So, yeah, sorry Twilight Saga: Eclipse – I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it didn't seem like you were destined to stay on top for very long. Now, we wonder, whether Despicable Me will follow in the footsteps of Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After by repeating as the number one movie this weekend, or will one of our two new releases shove it out of the way. Let's take a look…

'Inception' and 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'

What's the Scoop: Christopher Nolan's follow-up to The Dark Knight is a trippy action-adventure that takes place primarily in the subconscious mind. Leonardo DiCaprio leads a team of people who are hired by a wealthy businessman to enter a rival's subconscious mind and plant an idea that will hopefully cause him to ruin his business. Tons of mind-bending action scenes and emotional guilt ensue.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: 9 words: From the guy who brought us The Dark Knight.

What's the Scoop: Inspired by the Disney classic, this updated version stars Nicolas Cage as a master sorcerer who recruits an everyday guy (Jay Baruchel) to become his new apprentice and help defend New York City from his arch-nemesis.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: If Inception scares off people with its long running time and complicated plot, this familiar family flick may snag a good amount of business.

My Prediction: Considering folks have been hyping Inception ever since its announcement – not to mention the fact that it's received a slew of rave reviews – I'm pretty sure the film is a lock for the weekend winner.
