Are you a Blade Runner fan? Have a burning question for Ridley Scott about the movie? Want to see it on the Warner Bros. lot where it was originally shot? Then we've got some special news for you, courtesy of our friend Charlie de Lauzirika (whom all of you hardcore DVD enthusiasts may know by name already, since he's the DVD producer behind such great collections as the special 5-disc Blade Runner Ultimate Collector's Edition, the 9-disc Alien Quadrilogy and last year's Twin Peaks - The Definitive Gold Box Edition). Anyway, if you are a movie fan in L.A., or can get to L.A. on Saturday, June 14, there will be a special screening of Blade Runner: The Final Cut including a live Q&A with Ridley Scott and other members of the cast and crew. It will screen at 2pm in Warner Bros.' massive Stephen J. Ross Theatre (my personal pick for the best movie theater in the city). The film will be presented in incredible 2K digital projection, and attendees will receive a Blade Runner collectible courtesy of Warner Home Video.
One more thing...this is for a very special cause, and is being presented by Charlie and his group Paul's Brain Trust. Who is Paul Prischman? Well, he is a DVD producer, too (counting Monster House and The Fly II amongst his credits), a huge movie afficionado, a former employee of Dave's Video (legendary amongst local laserdisc/DVD fans), and a husband and father of two. He also, unfortunately, has an aggressive form of brain cancer, and despite having a tumor removed last year, is still a victim of Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Being the sole breadwinner for his family, Paul can use our help, and the proceeds from the event will support the Preischman family with all of their extensive medical expenses. Tickets at $50 are available through the Digital Bits site, and are going fast (they went on sale last night, and more than half have been sold already). I hope to see you there, for a great movie and event for an even greater cause.
