This week, we look back at an intriguing collection of trailers and clips, ranging from British horror to Indian zombies to a horrified mother to a menacing thriller.
Stonehearst Asylum
A creepy trailer for what looks like a creepy movie, Stonehearst Asylum introduces Ben Kingsley as the head of an institution where med school graduate Jim Sturgess has landed his first position. Kate Beckinsale also stars as a patient, with Michael Caine making an appearance in an unlikely role. Based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe, the movie will be released in theaters on October 24. The Dead 2
In the sequel to their 2011 original, which was set in Africa, directors Howard J. Ford and Jonathan Ford follow a stalwart hero as he travels 300 miles through zombie-ravaged India to save his pregnant girlfriend. It's due out on Blu-ray and DVD on September 16. [Bloody Disgusting]
Lyle
A spooky movie that starts on the quiet side, Lyle stars Gaby Hoffman as "a pregnant lesbian confronted by an unspeakable evil." This clip is more unnerving than anything else; the movie is available to stream without cost during a Kickstarter campaign for a new horror flick from the filmmakers. The Scribbler
This thriller looks quite menacing, well beyond what one might expect from any movie boasting a cast that includes Katie Cassidy, Michael Imperioli, Billy Campbell, Eliza Dushku, Gina Gershon, Sasha Grey, Michelle Trachtenberg and Garret Dillahunt. It follows a young woman (Cassidy) who suffers from multiple personality disorder, and her attempt to cure herself with an experimental machine. The movie is due out this fall. [IGN]
