Pretty much everyone in Hollywood has voiced their opinion about Ben Affleck playing Batman EXCEPT Affleck, himself. So when the Argo star and director took to the couch on Jimmy Fallon and opened up about the role of a lifetime, it was finally time for commenters to step away from the message boards and listen to the actual actor talk about his actual audition and what he hopes to do with the actual part.

Listening to Affleck talk about reacting to message-board reactors is oddly reminiscent of that fantastic – but so NSFW clip – from Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. If you want to find it, it’s easily searchable.

This clip, though, also hints at director Zack Snyder’s approach to Batman in the eventual Batman vs. Superman team-up movie. Affleck admits that he’s older… or older than what fans might expect. He acknowledges that they are not trying to replicate what Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale did in their Batman trilogy. But he says that whatever Snyder has planned, it’s something that Affleck can hook into.

So, we have Affleck in place. Whom else does Snyder need to cast? There has to be a villain. The “Bryan Cranston for Lex Luthor” campaign seems to be hearsay, but that doesn’t mean Luthor isn’t the villain. There also has been conversations (or, honestly, rumors) that Lex might team with the Joker for the Man of Steel sequel. But good luck finding an actor ready, willing and able, to fill Heath Ledger’s shoes… even if it’s in a completely different movie with no connections to Nolan’s universe.

What else do you want to hear about Snyder’s movie, which storms into theaters on July 15, 2015? Post your questions below. And keep the winning Batfleck memes coming, because they are priceless. Priceless.
