It has been a long, contentious road to the big screen for Men in Black 3. From script disputes, a ballooning production budget and Will Smith's now infamous mega-trailer, it's a bit amazing the film has made it this far. The Barry Sonnenfeld directed sci-fi action comedy starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones is set to hit theaters over Memorial Day weekend (May 25) following a ten year gap between films.

Speaking with MTV, Sonnenfeld said the film would contain a "surprise ending." He adds that it is "by far the most emotional" of the trilogy, which doesn't say much considering the Men in Black franchise hasn't exactly been a weep-fest.

He says, "The fantastic thing about Men in Black 3 is that it totally closes out the trilogy, it answers questions that you didn't even know you should be asking, it leaves you emotionally warm and sad and happy, and it could also reboot the franchise."

Wait, what? Did he drop the "R" word? Does this mean we're starting back from scratch with a Josh Brolin led series of movies set in the '70s? We'll have to wait and see what the MIB's have in store for us when the film lands in theaters in about a month.

This may seem like a never-gonna-happen scenario, but if Men in Black 3 pulls in a huge box office, Sony is certainly going to be interested in keeping the cash-cow going. The first two films brought in $440 million domestically and over $1 billion worldwide. Would you watch a reboot-ed Men in Black movie?
