We’re seeing a lot of Zoe Kravitz on the big screen this year, between huge blockbusters like The Divergent Series: Insurgent and Mad Max: Fury Road and smaller indies such as The Good Kill and Dope, which earned her raves at Sundance back in January. In honor of her continued movie-career success, we’re celebrating the 26-year-old actress with the following 10 things about her we love.
1. She’s Lenny Kravitz’s Little Girl
Zoe Kravitz is the daughter of actress Lisa Bonet and rocker Lenny Kravitz. Two of her dad’s songs were written for her: “Flowers for Zoe” as a lullaby when she was born and “Little Girl’s Eyes” as a birthday present when she turned nine.
2. She Makes Her Own Kind of Music
Now Zoe sings and writes songs, too. She previously fronted the band Elevator Fight and currently leads Lolawolf, named after her two younger siblings, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf. Watch the music video for Lolawolf’s “Jimmy Franco” featuring a cameo from A$AP Rocky:
3. Her Movie Debut Had Her Going Goth
Of course, first she followed in Mom’s footsteps as an actress, making her hilarious movie debut in 2007 as a goth babysitter in No Reservations. You can see her in this trailer:
4. She Was One of the First X-Men
Speaking of debuts, Kravitz made a fantastic intro in X-Men: First Class as the flying mutant Angel Salvadore. See her spread her wings for Professor X and Magneto:
5. She Can Rock Her Own Stunts
Kravitz has done some of her own stunts in the various action movies she’s starred in, including Divergent. She admits there’s some “movie magic” involved in this train-jumping scene, as she didn’t leap from a moving object, but that the jump and roll are all her:
6. She’s Pals with Jay-Z
Kravitz got to combine her acting and music worlds by playing four different characters in the video for her friend Jay-Z’s 2007 song “I Know.”
7. She Has the Face of a Princess
She’s also done some modeling and was the face of Vera Wang’s fragrance Princess, which is fitting since she’s sort of younger generation Hollywood royalty:
8. She Designs Jewelry
Kravitz has been branching out in the fashion world, designing personalized jewelry for Swavorski Crystallized. In this promo video she mentions that she uses turquoise because that’s her birthstone:
9. She Continues to Reveal Other Talents
On the nonprofessional side, she is apparently great at beer pong, at least when using giant balls and cups. Here she beats Jimmy Fallon at his own ridiculous game:
10. She’s Obsessed with Costumes
Especially her dragon costume.
